Why is the right temperature important in the healthy grow of plants?
Hint: Enzymes
Can you figure it out from that? :)
Enzymes, so temperature affects the release of enzymes? I'm sorry, never really been good at Botany, could you dumb down the effects of that happening?
The function of enzymes is dependent on temperature. They have an optimal temperature range where they work the best. When the temperature is too low, there are too few collisions for any reaction to occur. When the temperature is too high, the enzymes may become denatured. All life processes depend on enzymes because they greatly catalyze reactions. Without the enzymes functioning, the plant cannot properly carry out photosynthesis, respiration, transport, etc.
Rogue is on the money that optimal temperatures for enzymes affects growth of all organisms. Plant growth is also affected by availability of water, and temperature also affects rates of transpiration.
Yup, transpiration is another important factor, nice one =)
Alright, I get it, thanks to both of you, I'd give you both medals but open study's changed that rule
As long as you get it =)
