Education section.
There are so many brilliant educators on Open Study. These are people who are on here offering help for free just because they love to help and to teach. With that kind of passion about education floating around, I'm amazed that there's not an education section on Open Study yet. Can we please start an education section where we can discuss with each other the interesting questions of how to teach well? This has to happen.
We have sections for differnt subjects to keep everyone on topic like math, science if there is a specific subject you want you can contact @cshalvey like the geograpgy group we are making, by havein an education group there will be no specfic topic and everyone will be off topic
Education is a topic. The study of how to educate.
Consider the question, "How do you motivate students to learn?" What current section could that question appropriately be asked in?
Good Point
Good idea. We could discuss how to explain specific concepts as well examples of great and not so great answers.
I've always wanted something like this. Great Idea. We can add this to list of topics for the next Open House. You should be there to discuss this new idea.
In the past when we've tried to gauge interest for this (we do love the idea), there hasn't been enough to justify the creation of a new group. We'd definitely be willing to discuss it at the next Open House, as I know we're currently running a few group experiments to gauge interest.
@shadowfiend can seem so condescending sometimes. I think it is a great idea that will become very popular once it is fully developed and enough contributions are made. SmoothMath, you have to make sure you are at the next Open House to share your ideas with the rest of the mods/admin/owners.
Okay, when is it? And I'd promote it hardcore, because I think it has a ton of potential.
I believe @cshalvey is currently looking into scheduling for the next one, and the location, and will post an announcement when he's got it all figured out.
(Fiend I didn't feel condescended)
Oh wow, it's an in person kind of thing?
To me, he seemed to be discouraging the idea. That's why I mentioned "condescending".
Yeahwell. The mods do a lot. They have to be selective of what ideas they choose to attempt.
It's an in person kind of thing in the sense that many (though not necessarily all) of the admins at OpenStudy will be present to talk to in real time, yeah. That's the idea vs the more general use of OpenStudy Feedback.
Well, depending on the location, I'd love to come.
Location: Open Study Time: TBA
Yea nice idea !
