tan^3 theta = 1.5 what's the value of theta? i got 48, but when i plug it back to the original equation h = 1.5/ sin theta + 1/cos theta I could not get the textbook answer of 4.5m

Yeah. It can also be .85+n*pi, where n is an integer.
