just tell me if I should use con sine or tan for the following problem A surveyor is 952 feet from the base of the fountain at Fountain Hills. The angle of elevation to the top of the water is 29 degrees. What is the height of the water?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's how to figure out which to use. Draw a picture and label everything you know. Figure out which side is the hypotenuse, which side is adjacent to the angle you know, and which side is opposite from the angle you know. Now, which side length do you know, and which side are you trying to figure out? If it's opposite and hypotenuse, then you should use Sin. If it's adjacent and hypotenuse, then you should use Cos. If it's opposite and adjacent, then you should use Tan.

I'll draw the picture for you. |dw:1335659022632:dw|
