can some one plain to me the quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (beginnersmind):

You mean explain how to use it? For example if you have \[x^{2}-x-6=0\] how do you use the quadratic formula to find the solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The quadratic formula is a formula that gives the roots of a quadratic equation. This is the formula: x=(−b±b2−4ac−−−−−−−√)/(2a) If you have an equation, ax2+bx+c you would use the corresponding numerals in the quadratic equation to plug into the formula. For instance: \[x ^{2}+4x+3\]

OpenStudy (precal):

Quadratic formula finds the two solutions that you are looking for. Factoring does not always work but the formula works 100% of the time.
