OpenStudy (tetyana):

If a woman has a genetic defect in her mitochondrial genes for certain proteins, and that defect gets passed on to [all of] her children, is that considered a sex-linked inheritance? Or does it have to be on the sex chromosomes to be classified that way? Is there a special name for mitochondrial inheritance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, mitochondrial inheritance is called cytoplasmic inheritance. Sex-linked inheritance is for genes on the sex chromosomes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The sex linked inheritance must be on the sex chromosome ...as for the name of the mitochondrial inheritance i'm not sure of it so u should stick to Jc7's answer :)
