OpenStudy (anonymous):

atmosphere in a sealed space craft contains a) pure oxygen B) a mix of oxygen and nitrogen c) a mix of oxygen and carbon dioxide d) pressurized atmospheric air available normally on earth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its b) a mix of oxygen and nitrogen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because only excess of oxygen can cause of explosion...so it is neccesary the mixture of nitrogen and oxygen.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well it should be oxygen and carbon dioxide coz even in oxygen cylinders in hospitals have 1% co2 because of some reason

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

The atmosphere on space craft is made of nitrogen and oxygen in the same approximate percentages as here on earth. There are two reasons for this: 1) having a higher concentrations of oxygen (> 22%) creates an extremely explosive atmosphere and 2) the human body will experience oxygen toxicity over time when exposed to higher concentrations of oxygen. http://science.howstuffworks.com/space-shuttle4.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_toxicity
