What is the value of sin N?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is N ?

OpenStudy (eyust707):

the oppsite side over the hypotenuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hint..this is one of the fundamental derivatives derivative of sinx = cosx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I Don't Know. Its a problem on my geometry homework

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh...geometry...then show a figure :P

OpenStudy (eyust707):

sine is a ratio we use to describe the sides of a triangle

OpenStudy (eyust707):

Have you learned soh cah toa?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Huh?

OpenStudy (eyust707):

hehe

OpenStudy (eyust707):

its a little trick i learned when I was first learning geometry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im a slow learner..

OpenStudy (eyust707):

ill teach it to ya

OpenStudy (eyust707):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok Thanks.

OpenStudy (eyust707):

okay so we have a triangle like the one above. the square means that angle is 90 degrees.

OpenStudy (eyust707):

We call these right triangles

OpenStudy (eyust707):

and they are very special becuase we can use thier angles and sides to say all sorts of cool things about the rest of the triangle

OpenStudy (eyust707):

so if i give you an angle of the triangle and one side, you can use math to tell me the length of the two other sides

OpenStudy (eyust707):

|dw:1335763398952:dw|

OpenStudy (eyust707):

if that angle is 30

OpenStudy (eyust707):

it has three "sides" near it

OpenStudy (eyust707):

The little one right next to it is "adjacent" |dw:1335763449066:dw|
