Hilter was trying to take over the world as I'm sure you know. Taking over  places gave him more control and he was also killing anyone that didn't have blonde hair and blue eyes. 

Britain and France promised Poland that they would defend them. Attempts were made to stop Hilter from invading Poland but failed, therefore Britain and France declared war on Germany
