What is the equation of a line that passes through point (1, -2) and has a slope of 1/3 . 3x - y - 7 = 0 x - 3y + 7 = 0 x - 3y - 7 = 0

is it the second one?

To check and see if it's right, plug in a number from the point that it gives you and see if it comes out correct. So, since it's (x,y)=(1,-2), plug in 1 for x and see if y ends up being -2.
