I'm having difficulties with this one, can I get some help? Michael bought a new lawn mower at 30% off for $357. What was the original price of the lawn mower? Please show all work.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

100 : 357 70 : x

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

375 is the 100% price.. now after discount, you have to find the 70% of the ORIGINAL price. (100-30 = 70) Now.. Cross multiply. ;)

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

@ParthKohli , i always get confused in the formula, so i dont use it. :D

Parth (parthkohli):

\[\Large x - {30x \over 100} = 357 \] \[\Large {70x \over 100} = 357 \] \[\Large 70x = 35700 \] \[\Large x = 510 \] :D
