Word Problem help! please. The population of a certain geographic region is approximately 117 million and grows continuously at a relative growth rate of 1.51%. What will the population be in 4 years? Compute the answer to three significant digits.
do you know what the growth rate formula is?
PR=(V present-Vpast)/Vpast x100 ???
that's what I have. what problem are you having with plugging the numbers in?
where they go.. i dont understand where the rate goes
PR = Percentage Rate
1.51=117,000,000-?/?x100
I am thinking the future value is the unknown
yes i understand that but how would i calculate that since it is unknown?
\[1.51 = ((x - 117,000,000)/117,000,000)*100\]
that 1.51 should have a percentage sign...
i put that into the calculator and i must be doing it wrong the answer mathces none of my choices.. A. 124 million B.123 million C.127million D.126 million
let me check something.
\[ futre = 117,000,000*1.51^{4}\]
try that
what is the futre
future. i have to go, my browser doesn't agree with this webpage.
that doesn't work either. I am sorry.
you can do it manually by taking 1.51% of 117,000,000 and then adding it up each time.
for instance 117,000,000*0.0151 = 1,766,700, which the total is 118,766,700. this would be the populatoin after 1 year
