10(x-1)=50 x-1=40 is this correct or not correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok can you explain why its is not correct i don't get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not Correct 10(x-1) = 50 You need to divide both sides by 10 (you subtracted 10 from the right side and divided on the left) That gives you (x-1) = 5 so x = 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about the bottom expression

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isolate x--always. so what would you do to both sides to get x by itself?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u would divide 50 by 10 and then add 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which would be 6
