25(x-4)2 + 100 y2 = 100. Sketch the function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you divide both sides by 100, you'll get (x-4)^2/4 + y^2 = 1 this looks like the equation for a conic... what is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

btw, this equation is not a function...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to sketch the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, i do not!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. are you doing conic sections? (parabola, ellipse, hyperbola, circles)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what conic this is? (x-4)^2/4 + y^2 = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i do not know which way should i use, but what do u think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk your question ^.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fyi, this is an ellipse centered at (4,0). major axis has lenth 4, minor axis lenght2. that should get you started with your graph.
