Assume that two right triangles are similar, and that the lengths of the sides of one triangle are 5 times the lengths of the corresponding sides of the other triangle. How does the area of the smaller triangle compare to the larger one?

17. If the sides of one are times longer than those of another , then the ratio of the areas of the larger to the smaller is _______. 17. If the sides of one are times longer than those of another , then the ratio of the areas of the larger to the smaller is _______.

the area of the bigger triangle would be 25X bigger area of a triangle is 1/2 X B X H... there are two dimensions here that are being stretched 5X so 5X5=25... also, if we work with a 3 4 5 triangle whos area is 6 and we were to multiply all the sides by 5 the new dimensions would be 15 20 25 and it's area would be 150. 150/6=25
