Which of the following describes what needs to occur in order to reduce force while doing the same amount of work? A. the distance over which the force is exerted must increase B. the distance over which the force is exerted must decrease C. the mass of the object being moved must be increased

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if i recall correctly, work = force times distance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Work = force applied x distance traveled in the direction of the force. So if one component of the equation is being reduced, the other must be increased, hence the distance over which the force is being exerted must increase.
