Although there are rocks on Earth that are used to help determine Earth's age, why are many of Earth's rocks dated as younger then the age of Earth? 1. Over time, rocks have lost the gas from comets that would normally allow their age to be determined. 2. Radioactive dating techniques cannot accurately measure the ancient times being analyzed. 3. Scientists have no way to estimate the age of Earth. 4. When rocks are recycled due to plate tectonics, their original age is erased.
