Arithmetic sequences can be represented by a linear equation/function. What is the relationship between Geometric sequences and exponential functions? How are Geometric sequences different than Arithmetic sequences? How are linear functions different than exponential functions?

a geometric sequence has common ratio e.g. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, .... can be written as \[\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}2^{n-1}\]
