-30+15+-12+-5.............ugh math:/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer i got is -24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you understand my number line example before? You start at -30. If you want to add 15, you need to move 15 units up. That would leave you at -15. Now you want to move 12 spaces back down. That will take you to -27. Again, you want to move down as you are subtracting (remember the addition disappears when there's a plus and a minus next to each other).

Can you work it out from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont have a number lines

Okay. Say you just opened a bank account. It cost you $30 to do it. You're starting your bank account in the negative, which isn't a good thing. BANK BALANCE: -$30 After doing chores around the house, you earn $15 in pocket money. You decide it would be a good idea to put this into your bank account to get yourself out of debt. BANK BALANCE: -$15 After going out with friends, you need to withdraw $12 to go to the movies. BANK BALANCE: -$27 The next day you took your girlfriend out to McDonalds. That cost you $5. BANK BALANCE: -$31 Can you see how this works?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, that last one should be -$32.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Just remember to walk through it one at a time if you get the answer wrong.
