It is impossible for a cat and dog to mate. What I shall delicately call mechanic incompatibility makes it impossible. Even if an animal was artificially inseminated, dogs and cats have different numbers of chromosomes so the fertilised cell would not be able to divide at all. And too many biologic things would go wrong for the offspring to ever be born, even if the cell could divide.
