A square tile has an area of 144 square inches. What is the length of one side of the tile? A. 11 inches B. 12 inches C. 13 inches D. 14 inches

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're trying to work out the opposite of the area; that is, to find the length of the sides of the square. Square rooting the area will give you the solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Area = base*height Area of a square is just Side^2 \[A=s^{2}, \sqrt{A}=s\] \[144=s^{2}, \sqrt{144}=s, s=12\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep its 12. in this case, x times x equals 144. so xsquared equals 144. The square root of 144 is 12
