Did I got the one similar to this right yesterday? :-O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep! the only questions i got wrong were ones you didnt answer! ahah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also, anyone that could help with this!?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If I did it right, I think N is at the point (1,8) and O is at (-5,8). Do you have options for the answers? I did similar to the last one. Draw the point M, notice that, if MN has length 14, it has 2 times the length AB, so everything should be doubled. Conclude from there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P is (-10,-4). The x-coordinate remained constant for Q (-4,-4) and y is +4, comparing to C(-4,-8). So, B is (-10, -8) implies that P is (-10,-10)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

implies that P is (-10,-4)*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That wans't correct? :-(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Neither?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the other choice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I mean, neither of the questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i a sorry! I was looking at the second question, totally forgot i posted the first one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what was your 1st answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

N (1,8) and O is at (-5,8). But I think there's a catch, I don't know the trapezoid should flip downwards or to the left.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah theres a catch so its like too confusing!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think O is 7,8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That makes sense, too. The rotation would be to the right. Thing is the distance has to be 6, but there are two directions for it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@TuringTest Mind help here mate? :-) My geometry is not at all good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gah, helping*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

N 1,8 is a possible answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Hero ?????

OpenStudy (turingtest):

I'm not so good with geometry either Hero is though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The vertex N will be located at (1,8) and vertex O at (7,8) . Verify if this is right. If yes, I will tell how I got this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shivam_bhalla I thought this also, but why it should be, say, 7,8 rather than -5,8? Isn't the distance the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically, they have used the term "similar" . Now according to me , this term "similar" is used in the context of similar triangles. Our answer should be right because the new triangle defined by MNO would be similar to the triangle ABC. However, this cannot be the answer with O as -5,8 because the similarity of triangle would be disobeyed. This is how I support my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bmp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Makes perfect sense. I have to draw things more carefully when dealing with geometry :-). Thanks for the explanation :-D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shivam_bhalla could you check this please? http://openstudy.com/study?login#/updates/4fa18c3fe4b029e9dc32855f

hero (hero):

I'm actually in the middle of doing something else at the moment. I can post a solution later.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we solved it. :P

hero (hero):

Oh, well great then :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you for commenting though!

@computergeek123 , the link you gave me is of the same page as of this topic.
