Which characteristic could help you distinguish between types of fungi? The shape of the fruiting bodies on the fungi. The color of the fungi. The spores made by the fungi. The growing location of the fungi.

Hey there, IIRC, the names of fungal phylums are actually based on the names for the fruiting body structures...e.g., you have Ascomycota, named after the ascus; likewise, you have Basidiomycota, named for the basidiocarp.

what does that mean?

What taxonomists use to classify fungi apart from one another is the fruiting body structure, I believe. So, it seems like that would be your most useful visual clue when telling them apart?
