The dimensions of a small pyramid are one-third the dimensions of a larger pyramid. If the volume of the larger pyramid is 540 cm^3, what is the volume of the smaller pyramid?

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

The volume of a pyramid is calculated by the general formula Vol = area of base times height times 1/3

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

lets assume that the height, width and length of the larger pyramid is H, W, L the height width and length of the smaller pyramid is H/3, W/3, L/3 so what is the difference in the volumes of the two pyramids?
