What role does skin play in the excretory system? A. secretes excess water as sweat B. protects against pathogens C. absorbs water through osmosis D. facilitates gas exchange

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this question is wrong skin is not an excretory organ its a thermo regulatory organ however some people mistakenly call it the excretory organ as it releases sweat and sebum sweat is only released for the purpose of cooling and sebum protects against pathogens the real excretory role is played by kidnies they determine whether there is excess water in blood or not and resultantly dilute or concentrated urine is formed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if u r talking about humans then u can eliminate d and c it does protect from pathogens but that is not what question demands Secrets excess water as sweat is not appropriate bec. sweat glands secret excessive salts not water through skin.
