Folk music pertains to a centralized aspect of popular music having to do with a certain culture.

Popular music, AKA "Pop" music encompasses all of the "chart toppers" that reach out to the youth of the current day and age.

I have no idea what art music is.

Classical music is highly crafted by the world's best composers. Great classical music can be enjoyed for centuries. Popular music is a simpler offering, usually with lyrics and vocals and a chord progression, and is meant to be more entertaining in the present and for the masses to enjoy.
