Sinc Erf. Erfi. Polygamma. Dirac Delta. What are all these strange functions, and why aren't they in my calc book? Are they in a differential equation book?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

I know the dirac delta is in diff eq.

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

It's not in most calc books because it needs quite a bit of analysis (I think).

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

And polygamma?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

And gamma function? I'm really curious about the gamma function and the error function in general.

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

The gamma function requires complex analysis, which is a class I'm taking next semester. So I can't really tell you very much about it at the moment.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

So, everything I"m curious about is hard. Great. :(

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Basically. Although you should be curious about other things that are easier. Such as the fundamental theorem of arithmetic. Why is every number expressible as a unique (up to ordering) product of primes?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

No. You took a number theory to the brain. I'm not going to do that,

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

It's so much fun though!

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Or perhaps cryptography! How do we send information safely across an unsecure channel?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

We don't.

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

That's what radius servers are for, durh.
