Hi I need help with Reducing data redundancy in Object-oriented databases. Can someone suggest good material on the subject for me to use?

the database has a function which doesn't allow duplicates and will send an error to your client program if you try.....I usually use form validation for this though so that I can send an error message immdiately to the user

ahh yes I know that but I asking for things like normalization, which is used in the relation model, applicable to the Object-oriented model.

I guess goto the mysql database site and read the docs there is plenty on databases there. All the information and then some is on the internet. If you really want to know the dirty details go read SQL whitepaper specifications.
