David wants to build a fence arond his perfectly square pasture. If the area of the pasture is 625sq yards, how many yards of fence will he need?

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

if x is the length of a side of the pasture, then the area is length times width\[A=x \times x=x ^{2}\] and the perimeter or outside edge of the pasture is given by\[P=2x+2x=4x\]

OpenStudy (pfenn1):

So if the area is 625 sq yards, solve for x.

i was actually wondering how to do that. im not sure what the side lengths are. I divided 4 into 625 but it came out to be a decimal.

nevermind i got it, thank-you! :D

I tried to help you some more but my computer froze and I just got back on. I'm glad you figured it out on your own!
