This one, I thought, was confusing because you can't really factor it.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

same as before... with intersecting chords (x-2)(x+7)=4(2x-1) x^2 + 5x - 14 = 8x - 4 or x^2 -3x - 10 = 0 factorise only consider the positive solution because you are dealing with measurements

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how you could find the x with those numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, maybe with the quadratic formula, but I'm not good at using it.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well I think it factorises to (x -5)(x+2) = 0 then x = 5, -2 only consider 5 as the solution... using -2 will give negative measurements

Directrix (directrix):

4(2x-1) = (x-2)(x+7) -x^2 + 3x + 10 = 0 x^2 - 3x - 10 = 0 (x +2)(x-5) = 0 x = -2 or x = 5

Directrix (directrix):

@Sakigirl --> It factors over the integers.
