The length of a table is 4m greater than the width. The area is 77m^2. Find the dimesions of the table? The width of the table & length of the table.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

area = length x width it was stated that length = 4 m greater than width so length = 4 + w do you know how to solve it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no not really i failed this area last time

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

substitute 4 + w in yor length in your equation for area so area = (4+w)w

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what i ended up with is -11 & 7 but im not sure

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i dont think there should be a negative for a measurement
