What information do you need to be able to calculate the concentration of an acid given the volume of that acid and the concentration of the base you are titrating it with?
I was thinking that I need to find the number of moles for the base so that I can calculate the acid's concentration, C=n/v
you also need to know the mole ratio of acid to base, unless you automatically assume it's 1:1
I believe it's just a 1:1 mole ratio.
so that number of moles, and mole ratio I use to calculate the acid's concentration using the formula above?
knowning the concentration and volume of acid gets you moles of acid. if the ratio is 1:1, then that is also equal to moles of base. Moles of base and volume of base gets you concentration of base.
yup. So I guess knowing the moles of the base and using the 1:1 mole ratio will help me calculate the concentration of acid? Is that what you're saying? :$
essentially, yes
alright, thanks!
