Please help with world history question, im down to the wire with homework and their due dates... Great brittians policy of __ toward Germany was based on the belief that the satisfaction of reasonable demans would maintain peace in europe. A.) Firm Resistance B.) Detente c.) Appeasment D.) Anschluss
C) Appeasement As for why: A) Firm Resistance was not widely supported except by Churchill (who was not yet Prime Minister) who warned everyone against Hitler. No one wanted another bloodbath like WW1, but people wonder what would have happened if Hitler was stopped early by resisting him. B) Detente revolved mostly around the Cold War between the Soviets and the US, years after this. Britain did not seek to sign treaties with Germany at the time as equals as the US and the Soviets did under detente. Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain sought to secure peace at any price, even if it meant appeasing Hitler's demands. D) Anschluss focused on Germany absorbing Austria into the greater Reich, unifying the two countries into one so it has nothing to do with Britain.
