Its A! proof>I suspect that the 3- in the front of your problem isn't part of the equation, but the number of the problem. If It is included, then you'll end up with a complex solution, which I doubt you are studying. So assume the problem statement is sqrt(3x-5) = 4 First square both sides. 3x-5 = 16 Solve for x x = 7
