2 and 3 are correct. For #1, what is the definition of a rational expression?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a function made from the ratio of two polynomials?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly. Now you have 2 answers here where either the denominator or the numerator is not a polynomial. 3x doesn't have a denominator and 1/(3x^2+5) doesn't have a polynomial as a numerator. Now, technically, you could argue that 3x = 3x/1 but don't you find that it looks less like a rational expression than 1/(3x^2 + 5)?

:O okay I think I got it!
