How do we go about adding new subjects or requesting that new subjects be added?

To add new subjects you have to make a request here. The admins (which consist of the OpenStudy staff) will take it under consideration. We recently did this with the creation of the Music group.

what about removing useless groups?

We don't have any immediate plans to group prune, but we always reserve the right to do so in the future. But, considering unofficial groups no longer show up in the menu, it shouldn't matter. :P

well there are a lot of useless official groups and you argument against creating new groups is like oh we don't have moderators who would take care of those groups, so its same with already existing official groups noone is moderating them (because noone uses) but lets say if all official groups suddenly become active (not like math group of course)
