2cos^2x +sinx-1=0

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

2(1-sin^x) + siin x - 1= 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can't we use the quadratic again ?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Yes we can. solve this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.5 and -1

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

use it

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

\[-2\sin^2 x + \sin x + 1\]

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

yep

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

-2y + y + 1 =0 y = 1, y = -1/2

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

@lgbasallote , ok thanks. will do. -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why -2 ? the heck?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

calm down bro, it's cos^2x. cos^2x = (1-sin^x) Do you remember any identity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so why didn't you change the problem before like this one ?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

sin^2x + cos^2x = 1

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Because they were same. here they are different. They are sin and cos. in last one they were ONLY cos.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah, but that still not the answer though

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

sin x = y y = 1, y = -1/2 sin x = 1, sin x = -1/2 Solve.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

im eating a muffin with milk. yay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0___0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 1 and -1/2 is answer or not ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great! im drinking coke lol

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

coke is bad for health, milk isn't.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Both are the answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

milk make me go restroom

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

That's no good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what the heck, the answers are pi/2, 7pi/6 and 11pi/6 so why the 1 and -1/2 there? lol

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Dont worry man. there's a simple formula. \[2 \pi = 360^{*}\]

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Therefore, \[D \times \frac{\pi}{180} = R\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my calc have to be in degrees or radian?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

That's obvious man.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol, but i still not getting the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1x pi/180 = LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hang in there :|

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Do you sleep in class or something? -just wondering. lol What? are you leaving?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im don't sleep in class lol, it just that the teacher don't explain very much and i have to learn everything by myself ..... :|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Can i get a teaching job like that too? :D where i dont have to teach? ;D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he really confuse im telling you and we only have like 50 mins per class

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but now is no time for complain =.=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok 1 and -1/2

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Turn the calc into radian mode.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 x pi/180 = .0174

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what the heck?> :O

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Dont worry. just chill.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that! lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you search everything so damn fast...

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

oh. okay. lol. Haha.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should learn something that has to do with computer and math at the sametime, you will be billionaire

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i got both autographs..

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

in rad mode, \[\sin^{-1} ( 1) \to \frac12 \pi\]

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

I dont like being rich. hhe.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh fk... i totally forgot about the sin part

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

\[-\sin^{-1}\frac12 \to - \frac16 \pi\]

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Lol. Chill pill~.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1/6pi is not one of the answer...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you teach private lession ? lol lol

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

as a matter of fact, you should take sin^{-1}(1/2) you will get 1/6 pi. moving along, then check out for quadrats where x is negative and so on.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Yes, i dont teach people privately. i even teach college people in US. and im teaching people from a year or so..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

darn... :|

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

What's so sad in that? D:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

had fun spamming lol

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

trolling/spamming are fun! Party scene! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did that but 1/6 is not one of the answer so why are u include it in there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=.=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you still ON for like 1 or 2 more hours?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuz i gtg to a friend house for a bit, but i brb :D with more questions ofcourse

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

like i said we have look for qudrants and subtract 1/6 from 2pi like we subtract angles from 360 and so on.. Secondly, so you really think im a robot? lol, im awake from 18 hours and studying math from about 12 hours and im half dead already. so i will be online but i have some other teaching work to do as well. But if you want, i can teach you this stuff privately. you may email me i will come online here then? if that's ok?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

I was online just of your trig questions. ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what your email then?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

einstein.saifoo@gmail.com

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow i knew it haha

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

LOl.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok cya :)

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

back :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

damn it i want to play this game i just borrow from friend so badly :|

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Welcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i gotta focus on studyyyyy >:O

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

which game?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Reckoning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'll play it later :D

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Action games.. i dont like.. Sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now back to this problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what game do you like then? :O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The sims? lol

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Racing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

naw it's the sims :)

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Haha. no. games like nfs, gta, etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gosh i love gta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was gonna borrow from him too but he's not finish with it yet so....:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok focus!

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Focusing..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-.5 is not one of the answer but 1 is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i find the rest of the answer again?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i plugged in sin^-1(1) and got 1.5 which is pi/2 = what i needed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now i need to know how they got 7pi/6 and 11pi/6
