The graph represents the height of a football t seconds after it was punted. How many seconds did it take the football to land? Choices; 2 5 3 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont know how to you can tell how many seconds it takes.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Look at the graph and locate the x intercepts (ie the points where the parabola crosses the x axis)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What are the x-intercepts?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Good, that's one x-intercept, the other is 0. It turns out that you want the right most intercept because this is the point where the ball will come back down. So yes, the answer is 4.

Thanks :)
