in non polar environment which interaction provide highest contribution to the bio molecules? a) vader waals forces b) hydrogen bonding c) salt bridges d) hydrophobic interaction
I think that it's the hydrophobic interaction. Maybe this link will help you: http://web.virginia.edu/Heidi/chapter6/chp6.htm Good luck..
@ddg you mean the interactions between the bio molecules and the molecules around them (the non polar environment) or the intra molecules interactions of the bio molecules themselves?
hydrophobic ineractions plays a major role in non polar enviroment.
during normal enviroment which is hyhdrophylic.hyhdrophobic side chains of macromolecules are oriented to the core to decrease hydrophbic surface area exposed to water therefor increase the stability and hydrophylic side chains are oriented outsid to the to water where it make hydrogen bonds
Though valid, I find the question to be stupefying; maybe my brain isn't fully functioning at the moment. Perhaps the answer to the question lies in the study of functional groups. Since we are talking about non-polar, the answer is hydrophobic interaction and the functional groups involved are the methyl and phenyl groups. I doubt my answer helps, but if it did, you're welcome.
