Which of the following correctly identifies the main function of photosynthesis? Converts chemical energy to ATP Converts chemical energy to stored carbohydrates Converts solar energy to chemical energy Converts oxygen and water to chemical energy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you see a word that starts with Photo-, what comes to mind?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

converts chemical energy to stored carbohydrates I would say because photosynthesis has to do with plants making their own food.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why not C?

OpenStudy (blues):

I believe C is correct, andreadesirepen. Photo means light, synthesis means make. So it converts solar energy to matter and matter is in some very deep, zen way just energy stored in bonds between atoms.
