x2 + 2x − 8 = 0
do you need to solve it by the quadratic formula or you want to factorize it ? :)
\[\LARGE {x_{1/2}} = \frac{{ - b \pm \sqrt {{b^2} - 4ac} }}{{2a}}\]
i need to find if its identical rational solutions, different rational solution, irrational solutions
but factorizing you'll get: (x+4)(x-2)=0 because 4-2=2 and 4*(-2)=-8 and now here you have two cases to solve (x+4)(x-2)=0 x+4=0 and x-2=0
so is it different rational solution???
in that case you have: \[\LARGE \Delta >0 \quad \quad 2-solutions\] \[\LARGE \Delta =0 \quad \quad 1-solution\] \[\LARGE \Delta <0 \quad \quad No\;\;Real\;\;Solution.\] and \[\LARGE \Delta=b^2-4ac\] so you have: \[\LARGE 2^2-4\cdot 1\cdot (-8)\Longrightarrow 4+4\cdot 8 >0\] so there are two different solutions...
Real solutions..
thx
My pleasure xD
