There are various devices (e.g. scanners) that can use algorithms to work out what character is in an image (when scanning text documents). This is what OCR is used for. So you can scan a text document directly into text rather than as an image.

One of the advantages being that you can then edit the scanned document using a text editor.

Adobe acrobat has a rather rudimentary OCR feature for scanned pages to enable editing.

To put it in simple way wen u insert a handwritten page into OCR it just turn tats into something you can edit in the word or in some text editor...
