what is meant by noble metal

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

why you not have learned from noble metals again in your school ?

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

A noble metal, as the word 'noble' implies, is a very unreactive metal. You'll rarely find it, and always find it in the pure form. It is difficult to make a compound out of it. That's why they're extremely expensive. Like Gold, platinum

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

,,Mani_Jha" can you tel me why are this property ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

... for the asker can understanding more easy

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

It could be interesting to specify "unreactive with..." as opposed to non-noble metals.

do you understand the D orbital? (S,P,D and, F orbitals)? if so, it is when a metal has a full D orbital and doesn't need any more or less electrons to have a favorable amount in it's shell.
