http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/student.assessment/resources/online/2009/taks_g09_math/images/8graphicaa.gif A sphere with a diameter of 6x centimeters is shown below. Which of the following expressions best represents the volume of this sphere in cubic centimeters in terms of π?
\[V = \frac{4}{3}pi \space r^3\] r = 3x \[V = \frac{4 pi (3x)^3}{3}\] V =\[\frac{4 pi 27x^3}{3} = 4 \space pi \space 9x^3 = 36pix^3\]
No offense but my brain just exploded
Volume of a sphere is given by \[\frac{4}{3}pi \space r^3\]
You have a diameter of 6x, so half of that would be the radius. Therefore you have a radius of 3x
just plug in 3x where "r" is and simplify
okay that makes sense but where did you get the 4 in the 4/3 from?
the 4/3 part of the formula to calculate the Volume of a sphere.
It was given i guess you could say. I didnt calculate that number
oh yah that's true (suspicious) have you seen this problem before?
No lol.
lol okay so just so I'm certain, a volume is always squared?
What do you mean by always squared?? If you mean the units then it should be what ever the units are cubed.
No I mean that 3 symbol
The radius is always cubed for the volume of a sphere, not squared
thank you sooo much :)
