Look at triangle PQR. Segment PO is 12 inches. Which statement is true? 1.The length of segment OM is 12 inches. 2.The length of segment PM is 18 inches. 3.The length of segment PM is 36 inches. 4.The length of segment RM is 12 inches.

Pm is 36 inches.

Directrix (directrix):

2.The length of segment PM is 18 inches. The medians of a triangle intersect at the centroid of the triangle. The centroid splits each median into a 2 to 1 ratio. So, PO/OM = 12/6. Therefore, PM = 12 + 6 = 18.

That's what I was thinking

Thanks :)

Directrix (directrix):

Glad to help. You were thinking correctly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol I fail...

Directrix (directrix):

Just study the theorems: The centroid of a triangle is twice as far from a given vertex than it is from the midpoint to which the median from that vertex goes. For example, if a median is drawn from vertex A to midpoint M through centroid C, the length of AC is twice the length of CM. The centroid is 2/3 of the way from a given vertex to the opposite midpoint. The centroid is always on the interior of the triangle.
