A rectangular box is x feet long and x feet wide. The volume of the box, in cubic feet, is expressed below. What polynomial represents the height of the box in feet? 4x8 + 3x6 A. 4x + 3 B. 4x^6 + 3x^4 C. 4x^8 + 3x^6 D. 4x^7 + 3x^5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are the first ones suppose to be powers? if so divide 4x^8 + 3x^6 by x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first ones are not suppose to be powers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its saying (4)(x)(8) + (3)(x)(6) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops, sorry, they are suppose to be powers: 4x^8 + 3x^6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay then divide like in the first post

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a,b,c, being sides, then a*b*c=volume so a=x, b=x, you have volume, you need c, the last side which is why you divide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide the equation by x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you are given two sides and the volume, the volume divided by the product of the two sides given will give you the last side
