OpenStudy (anonymous):

is obesity a cause of mutation?

OpenStudy (carniel):

No obesity is cause when you eat to much.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well what bout events in meiosis??

OpenStudy (carniel):

I found something that my help :o http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9537324

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Obesity is not the cause of mutation obesity is an individual choice when a person decides to stuff themselves with food and can't stop.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your welcom:)

OpenStudy (carniel):

He wasn't talking to you xD You was talking to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was talking to the both of u :) i appreciate it

OpenStudy (carniel):

Lol np =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

obesity is genetic too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are also genetic factors to obesity @Daish96 Some people can eat the exact same diets, the same portions, everything. They WON'T be the same size.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it may be due to mutation in genes too

OpenStudy (carniel):

Funny how 3 people said same thing in less than 1 minute :|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bec it is true

OpenStudy (carniel):

Never said it wasn't

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes some people eat and no matter what they eat they dont get obese and some people get obese as soon as they take in a little bit of fats probably cause they have slow metabolism or some hormonal problem may also cause obesity its not purely genetical but it may be in some cases

OpenStudy (anonymous):

obesity is polygenic,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Daish96 that is rediculous that you are that ignorant about obesity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your answer was offensive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well since we are on the subject of dieting, do you all know of any weight gain shakes that can help me gain because I can eat all day and not gain or i will lose weight faster than i gain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm only a tenth grader and if i offend you than i apologize.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's okay buddy just watch what you say cause my personal feelings weren't hurt but maybe someone suffering from a genetic source of obesity out there would see that and feel hurt. :) no hard feelings tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thnxs and i'll think about what i say next time can i become a fan.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea why not? hey @nperry1 there are lots of supplimental shakes out there. check out Tigerfitness.com they have great deals all the time. my workout shake uses machine whey protein. its good stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and it helps u gain right??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea as as long as you keep eating and working out to gain muscle. you dont want to gain fat so take in energy and use the energy to build muscle instead of just converting it into fat. it's harder to do but it's the right way to do it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahaha well i think every one is born with muscles so why waste tim making them yourself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no because a mutation is a change in a genetic sequence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are different types of obesity, so for simplicity let's split it up by different casues (They someones overlap aswell as So the genetic form of obesity would be the odd hormonal values of Gherlin & Leptin (there are other hunger hormones but to our knowlegde these are the major players.) Basically put the hunger hormone (Gherlin) never quites stop giving out signals that you're hungry to the extent of a normal person, eventhough the fullness hormone Leptin is within normal range as a normal person. i'll try to illustrate this.|dw:1336421799723:dw| Left illustrated Hormonally impaired obese person, while on the right how a healthy persons Gherlin values would look like. (It peaks right before you eat your food due to smell, sight etc...) This type of obesity is brough on by a part of the genome which normally lies dormant in people but is activated by stimuli (prolonged hunger, stress, excessive eating fatrich food (mostly rich in LDL &VLDL), this type of obesite can be cured by a simple Gastric bypass, where it forces "reboot" of the hormonal levels, and the hormonal levels return to normal (of a healthy person). A lot of research has been placed into these hormones since 2004 (I think that's accurate) Hypothyriodism may lead to obesity aswell, well most likely not obesity but weight gain nontheless due to impaired metabolism. Phychological obesity (I just made the term up, theres probably a more accurate term.), eating when sad, bored etc... No medication or treatment could possibly solve this since it's a secondary effect of a underlying problem. Only by ridding of the cause of the initial habbit would possibly lead any result. Third but no least, weak people simply lacking the willpower to quit will intensly look for any excuse to why it's something beside their own fault, these people are extreme hypochondriacs when it comes to any disease or syndrome or any type of bodily malfunction which may or may not cause weight gain, it's nothing short of a addictionous behavior. Unfortunately these people are popular view of obese people where all the other categories which can be helped through medicine gets ignored due to the last categories hypochondriatic behavior. There are definitly more underlying causes than i've mentioned, and possibly more categories. But i mentioned which i considered the major ones, aswell as those which can be treated and which can't.)
