theo earns 20 pound one weekend he gives 4 pound to his brother, theo gives 6 pound to his mother, he has 10 pound left and spends it on bus fares and food. he spent £1.50 more on bus fares than on food. how much did he spend on bus fares?

So you have £10,
You wanna half that and give that to each side (bus fares,food)

If he spent £1.50 more on bus fares that also means he spent £1.50 less on food

so add 1.50 to the 5 on the bus fare side, and take away 1.50 from the 5 at the food site

So

Bus Fares:£6.50
Food:£3.50
