A point is a ______. A. geometry figure named with lowercase letters B. a dot with length and width C. fixed location in space D. circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think A, but I want to be sure it's correct.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

No, a point is usually named with uppercase letters

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

which other choices look like the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, that's right. My bad. So I think I would have to go with B. a dot with length and width

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

If it had a length and width, then it would also have an area (however small)...but a point does not cover area (as it is infinitely small) So choice B is also out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now I definitely know my answer. Because I know a point is not a circle, it would be answer C. a fixed location in space.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you nailed it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks very much for correcting me on this! (: If it weren't for you I most likely would have gotten this wrong.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You're welcome. I'm glad I could be of help to you.
