(x + y + 3)(x + y - 4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have nine multiplications to do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first multiply everything in the expression \(x+y-4\) by \(x\) then by \(y\) then by 3 and finally combine like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can write it if you like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes please (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok were we go \[(x + y + 3)(x + y - 4)\]\[=x^2+xy-4x+xy+y^2-4y+3x+3y-12\] is it clear what i did? not done yet because you still have to combine like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first i multiplied everything by \(x\) to get \(x^2+xy-4x\) then by \(y\) to get \(xy+y^2-4y\) and then by 3 to get \(3x+3x-12\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you combine like terms that way i can see if i do it right please and thank you
